Roll of Cardiff Freemen 1777-1993. The Freemen (or Burgesses) came from a variety of occupations and backgrounds - mainly prominent Landowners, Yeomen, Farmers, Craftsmen as well as Soldiers, Miners and :Labourers. The Right to Freemanship was by descent to sons and sons-in-law. This list does not include persons who earned and were given the Freedom of the City of Cardiff.
