This CD contains scanned images of the 1824 Manchester Directory, which contains hundreds of names and addresses of people living in this county at the time. Over 190 pages. Alphabetical Names Section - a list of the merchants, tradesmen, etc., in the Manchester and Salford area, listed alphabetically by name, showing trades or professions as well as addresses. 181 pages. Country Manufacturers Section - a similar list, but for people from outside the immediate Manchester and Salford town area, with residences or warehouses in town, showing the days they attend markets and inns they call at, etc. 12 pages. The images are in black and white BMP (bitmap) format, compatible with nearly all computers, PC/Mac/Linux and many older systems (Atari/Amiga/etc.) too. You can open them in just about any picture viewing or editing software for browsing/printing as required.
