This booklet contains a list of the main records of interest to the genealogical researcher for the area based on the ancient parish of Hampstead and includes the districts of Belsize, parts of Chalk Farm and Child’s Hill, Finchley Road, Fortune Green, Frognal, Hampstead Heath, Haverstock Hill, Kenwood, Kilburn (east of Edgware Road), North End, Rosslyn Hill, Swiss Cottage, West End and West Hampstead. This area was in the county of Middlesex but is now in the London Borough of Camden. (Hampstead Garden Suburb is not in this parish but in Finchley and Hendon – it will appear in our Finchley Parish Guide.) Apart from the vital records of the various religious denominations, examples of subjects covered in this booklet are manorial documents, marriage licences and military records. Details include where these records can be found, whether they are original hard-copy records, transcriptions in books, or on the internet.
