Baptism, marriage and burial records for individual parishes or small groups of adjacent parishes in north Warwickshire
General family history resources plus some unique databases of records not found elsewhere.
The Nuneaton & North Warwickshire Family History Society specialises in the area of North Warwickshire. The Society welcomes all with an interest in the area, or who live in the area but have research interests elsewhere. Are you an absolute beginner or a seasoned genealogist? Are you looking for your family in our area or do you live in north Warwickshire? Yes? Then join NNWFHS now to receive friendly help and guidance that will enable you to make progress with your research.
Unless otherwise advertised, all meetings are held on the second Tuesday of every month at Attleborough Baptist Church, The Green, Nuneaton, CV11 4JZ 7.30 - 9.15 pm. For speaker meetings, doors open at 7.15 pm for a prompt 7.30 start.
The format for our meetings will be a mixture of talks from invited speakers on family history related topics; research and help sessions; and social evenings. Research meetings are usually held quarterly in January, April, July and October.
At our research meetings you will be able to make full use of the society's resources - and purchase society publications. Help and advice is available from experienced genealogists and local historians. We can help you to get started in family history, show you how to find and use the records you need, suggest where you can look next and ways that you can break down brick walls that you might have come up against, tell you about local life at the time your ancestors were living here, and put you in touch with others who share your ancestors. You will also have the opportunity to chat to other members and share with them your own experiences and problems. There is a great deal of genealogy on the internet nowadays most of which is uncorroborated. We can help you to confirm or refute what you have been told and to put flesh on the bones of your family tree names by showing you how and where to access original records.
Our monthly meetings are friendly, informal and sociable. Members and non-members, beginners and experienced genealogists - everyone is welcome.
You do not have to join straight away but can come along as a guest for up to 2 sessions. Tea and coffee are provided.
Our meeting fee is £2.50 for members and £4 for guests (an increased fee may apply for some speaker meetings).
