Morley and District Family History Group was formed in 1986 by a group of family historians in Morley, West Yorkshire. The group is affiliated to the Federation of
Family History Societies, and is also an active member of the Yorkshire
Group of Family History Societies.
The Group takes a special interest in the region centred on Morley, including
the areas of Beeston, Bruntcliffe, Churwell, Drighlington, East and West Ardsley,
Gildersome, Holbeck, Tingley, Woodkirk, and including parts of south Leeds, but
incorporating the areas of the former Borough and Township of Morley, and also
parts of Batley parish.
Members' meetings, unless otherwise announced, are held on the 1st Wednesday
of the month at St Mary’s Church Room, Commercial Street, Morley. LS27 8HY (opposite Morley library). Commencing at 7.00 until 9.00pm. The venue is within
easy reach of Morley town centre: which is well served by public transport.
Free parking is available.
The Group produces its own Journal, Cameo, free to members, which is issued
three times a year. Also, a dedicated local history library is maintained.
Subscriptions cover the period 1st January to 31st December. Anyone joining the
group after 1st October will be considered to be a fully paid up member until
31st December the following year.
