Guide books to the records you can find in Gloucestershire Archives and elsewhere in the county and Bristol.
Other publications on CD-ROM, including A Rogue's Gallery
After thirty years of research into Gloucestershire ancestors, my own and those of others, I am very familiar with the records available in the county. I realised there was a need to provide detailed information on what records you can find to assist your research so have written two books to show you what you can find. No one researching Gloucestershire ancestors should be without these two guides.
Discover Gloucestershire Ancestors Volume 1 covers basics such as censuses, parish registers, nonconformist registers, probate and criminal records, all relevant specifically to Gloucestershire.
Discover Gloucestershire Archives Volume 2 takes your research further. It looks at topics such as parish chest records, education, military, poor law, maps and much. much more.
Whilst researching prisoners in Gloucester Gaol, I came across mugshots from 1871 onwards and produced a CD of the images and a book, A Rogues' Gallery, about them and the people involved.
There are at least 1000 photographs on each CD-ROM. They are in .jpg format and can be viewed by most graphics programs but they are best viewed with the automatic program included which uses your web browser. The photographs on each CD-ROM have been grouped around various centres for convenience.
