Gwent, which replaced the historic county of Monmouthshire in 1974, is situated in the south-east corner of Wales and is often referred to as the "Gateway to Wales". Our Society continues to serve the area covered by the historic county of Monmouthshire, as we have done for the past twenty years. The Society is a member of the Federation of Family History Societies and of the Association of Family History Societies of Wales.
As well as the current population of Gwent, we also serve those living elsewhere who may have ancestral connections with the historic county of Monmouthshire. You are welcome to attend meetings at any of our six branches. Details of where and when they meet will be found on our web-site.
