The aims of the Society are to promote and communicate research in family and community history, with a particular emphasis on the contribution of locally based micro-studies, especially through collaborative research.
Over the years, major projects have resulted in books on the Swing Riots, 19th century Allotments, British Almshouses, School & Community and others.
In addition we run an annual project, usually based on an occupation, which have led to interesting collections of articles which may be published in the Newsletter and completed research held in our Members' Pages on the FACHRS website.
Our academic journal 'Family & Community History' is published in three volumes per year which are included in membership.
We hold an annual conference in May which also gives us the opportunity to meet members from all over the country.
