Barnet Museum opened in 1938 to record and preserve Barnet's history and make it available to the community. The Museum has an extensive archive and is a centre for family and local history research.
The Museum has published a wide range of books about our local area.
Barnet Museum's collection covers many aspects of life in Barnet, from ancient times to modern day, including the Battle of Barnet, both World Wars, domestc life, pubs, sport, costume and health. The area the Museum covers is Chipping Barnet, East Barnet, New Barnet and the surrounding area.
Barnet Museum and Local History Society organises regular lectures and workshops on a variety of historical subjects (free or reduced price for members).
Barnet Museum is a charity run by volunteers. It is open Tuesday to Thursday 2.30pm-4.30pm, Saturday 10.30am-4pm and Sunday 2.30pm-4.30pm. Group visits for adults and/or children are available by appointment.
