In the 19th Century in particular, many thousands of Kent emigrants and transportees went to places all over the world and this index is likely to include relatively few of them, for many went under government schemes or under their own steam, leaving few local records. Also included are references to emigrants culled from published articles in county and family history Journals, which may help to linkup families searching for the same emigrant ancestors.
