Sheet 53. Dated 1904. 1in to mile This One Inch to the Mile map covers the area from Ampleforth eastward to Thornton Dale, and from Malton northward to Kirkby Moorside. Helmsley, Pickering and New Malton are the principal places on the map, but there are many villages. Other features of interest include the railways, many long closed; Rievaulx Abbey; the Howardian Hills; and the River Rye which winds through the map, creating Ryedale. On the reverse, a detailed map of Slingsby is included, together with a directory for the village.
