In his preface the states that he “is not without a hope, that something may be found useful in them in prosecuting of defending a Suit in the Sheriff' Court”.Obviously when it was published this it was meant for the profession, however for anyone who has an interest in the history of the Sheriff's Court and how it functioned this is an invaluable publication.
