The Friern Hospital Story: the history of a Victorian lunatic asylum


This is the story of Colney Hatch asylum, one of many ‘large, purpose-built lunatic asylums’ opened by local authorities in the early 1800s. The book includes interviews with staff, patients and local residents, as well as many photographs and illustrations.
