THE CORNWALL REGISTER by John Wallis

Description

This book, which was published in 1847, is NOT a transcript of the parish registers but the full, rather long, title gives a good basic description in that it is “Containing collections Relative to The Past and Present State of the 209 Parishes Forming the County, Archdeaconry, Parliament Divisions and Poor Law Unions of Cornwall To which is added A Brief View of the Adjoining Towns and Parishes in Devon from Hartland to Plymouth”

It is an interesting book of almost five hundred pages that gives useful information that helps to understand the history of this county as well as being packed with various statistics such as the population of each parish in 1841, Tithes due to the various parishes, a list of clergy in 1847, the area of each parish in acres, Rivers, where they rise, their length how far they are tidal for etc., Poor Law Unions and details of all the parishes. Searchable, indexed and bookmarked.
