The Court of Requests was established as the 'court of the poor man', and was intended to hear cases which were too trivial to go to the other courts. It is first mentioned in 1483, and seems to have evolved from an informal committee of the King's Council. It continued to sit until 1642, but was not revived after the Restoration.
