Description

Dated 1895. Sheet 80. 1in to mile This One Inch to the Mile map covers Hull and the area westward to South Cave and Broomfleet, and southward across the Humber to Ulceby and Saxby All Saints. On the back, there is a detailed map of New Holland in Lincolnshire, showing the station and pier head, for the ferries across to Hull. Much the largest town on the map, of course, is Hull, but South Cave, Barton upon Humber and Winterton are also classed as towns by the OS. It is not possible to list the many hamlets, farmsteads and other topographical features shown, but the following is a list of the towns and principal villages or church parishes that are included on this map: Alkborough, Amcotts, Appleby, Barrow upon Humber, Barton upon Humber, Bonby, Burton upon Stather, Croxton, Elsham, Flixborough, Garthorpe, Goxhill, Horkstow, Roxby, Saxby All Saints, South Ferriby, Thornton Curtis, Ulceby, West Halton, Whitton, Winteringham, Winterton, Wootton and Worlaby, all in Lincolnshire; Adlingfleet, Anlaby, Blacktoft, Brantingham, Broomfleet, Brough, Ellerker, Elloughton, Faxfleet, Fockerby, Hessle, Kingston upon Hull, Kirk Ella, Melton, North Ferriby, Scalby, South Cave, Southcoates, Swanland, Wauldby, Welton, West Ella and Willerby, all in Yorkshire.
