Estate Sale Catalogues - Volume 1

Description

For quite some time we have held in our Library at Alderley Edge the catalogues for the Alderley Estate sale in 1938. It was suggested by several of our members that it would be beneficial to the Society to have the catalogue digitised, however, when we first looked into this we discovered that the Maps of the Estate, an original part of the catalogue, were missing. Following an appeal for help, several members of the Society helped us out, not only did they find the missing Maps, but they also produced catalogues of Sale for other Estates in Cheshire too.

The Society would like thank the members who loaned, or borrowed these important documents from friends thus enabling this CD Rom, hopefully the first of several, to be produced.

What is interesting about these catalogues is that not only are many of them illustrated, but all tenancy details are listed together with the number of rooms and what was farmed on the various holdings.
