You will probably be aware that most of the wills belonging to the West Country were destroyed in an air raid on Exeter during the Second World War. Whilst copies are being found genealogists and local historians have to rely heavily of transcriptions and extractions made prior to this loss. Of these useful works Devonshire Wills by C. Worthy is one of the most important. This massive work of 516 pages is divided between 309 pages of will and administrations and 206 pages of the genealogies of 31 Devonshire families. As well as the usual index at the back of the book, this version can also be searched by using the search facility in Adobe Acrobat, making this a most useful CD to anyone whose interests lie in the county of Devon .
