In recent years members and friends of the Congleton Group of the Family History Society of Cheshire led by Sue Parker have transcribed all the Memorial Inscriptions at St Mary, Astbury.
There are two churchyards at St Mary's, the Old which surrounds the church and the New to the west, on the other side of the A34 road. Each is divided up into different plots: OA, OB, OC and S surround the church in the Old; A, B, C, CX, D, E, F, G and R are in the New. Memorial and other inscriptions inside the church are prefixed OW. This CD contains all the Memorial Inscriptions, together with plans of the various parts of the churchyards, and also files detailing all those buried since 1892 whether there is a gravestone or not. The CD also records the place of burial of all those buried since 21st November 1892, together with the place of burial of all those who were buried before that date in a grave plot marked by a stone with a memorial inscription. The CD lists in grave order all the Memorial Inscriptions in the various parts of the churchyards, the list has now been brought completely up-to-date as at 31st March 2007.
