About Us

We are a small non-profit making group of volunteers which was founded in 2002. Whose main objective is, to create a computer archive available on the internet for anyone researching the history of Morley and surrounding area, or tracing their family roots? You are invited to contribute your photographs and reminiscences at our collection sessions, where we also display material from the Archive in various ways to generate interest in our project.

The group organise the annual 'Morley Heritage Trail' event. Where a guided tour gives glimpses into the history of Morley, its industry, its buildings, and the people who shaped its future.

Morley Community Archives is an accredited West Yorkshire Archive Service Community Archive.

We publish bespoke booklets, CDs and DVDs, covering various aspects of Morley and surrounding area.

If you wish you might consider to become a Friend of Morley Community Archives who, whilst not taking an active hands-on role, support the aims of this organisation, and who wish to help us encourage others to preserve Morley`s heritage, both its buildings and the people within our community.

The membership is £5.00 per person payable annually. All friends receive our occasional newsletters and invites to our events.

We are very grateful to all of our ‘friends’ that make annual donations, without these friends we would find it difficult to make any medium or long term plans.
