Genfair release: November 2019
In Remembrance of the Fallen an essential companion volume to Great War Casualties on the Morley Memorial..
Following on from the success of their first collaboration, âGreat War Casualties on the Morley Memorialâ (see separate entry) Clive and Julie have selected and researched the lives of 45 local men from that book who gave their lives in the First World War.
Over the past five years Clive, Julie, relatives of the deceased, the Royal British Legion, the clergy, Morley Town councillors, MCA members, and members of the public have gathered at the gravesides of these 45 men and held, on the centenary of their death, a commemorative wreath laying service to give thanks for their life and service.
The foundation of this booklet is based on the short addresses, written by Clive, and mainly delivered by him, at the services. These addresses have been revised and expanded as new material has been researched.
To locate the places of burial, images of the graveyard, etc., and address details are also shown.
Entries are grouped into the places where the burials have taken place at Drighlington, Gildersome or Morley, and are shown in chronological order.
Images of every grave precede each of the biographical entries.
For ease of reference, the following information has been collated, and also heads each entry:
Date of death;
Photographs taken at the Commemoration services are shown at the end of the Drighlington, Gildersome and Morley chapters.
The following biographies are included:
A5 Spiral bound.
97 photographs (56 B&W and 41 in Colour.)
